In response to the ICCT study, increased income is found to be among the many elements which are linked to increased electric vehicle uptake, with some cities where the Tesla Model S was the highest-selling plug-in electric automobile with more than a 3rd of overall plug-in sales.
A research from the Worldwide Council on Clear Transportation (ICCT) published in 2016 discovered that in 2015 there were 30 cities in California with a plug-in electric car market share between 6% and 18% of latest vehicle sales within the state, representing eight to 25 occasions that of the U.S.
2015. The study found these cities are typically smaller, and the following twelve have a plug-in market share of 10% or more: Saratoga, Los Altos, Los Gatos, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Cupertino, Fremont, Manhattan Seaside, Campbell, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, and Berkeley.
The ICCT research found that the 30 cities with the best plug-in electric car uptake underwent the implementation of ample, broad-ranging electric car promotion applications involving parking, permitting, fleets, utilities, education, and office charging. 400,073 models in 2020, with California as the state with the best PEV sales over the remainder of this decade, with practically 25% of all PEVs sold in the United States between 2012 and 2020.
When it comes to market share, California will be followed by New York, Florida, Texas, and Washington, but Hawaii is predicted by 2020 to have the highest penetration fee of PEVs as a share of all light obligation automobile sales.
